Members of Parliament, through the Rwanda Women Parliamentary Forum (FFRP), joined citizens across Rwanda on March 8, 2026, to mark International Womenβs Day 2026, reaffirming their commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls.
Speaking during the celebrations, the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Beline Uwineza, encouraged women to fully seize the opportunities created by the country to advance their rights and development.
Ahead of the celebrations, Members of Parliament carried out a three-day nationwide outreach initiative, engaging communities on the importance of building peaceful families and preventing household conflicts. MPs also visited secondary schools to encourage students to avoid risky behaviours and become responsible future leaders.
The activities aligned with the global theme set by the United Nations, βRights. Justice. Action for All Women and Girls,β while Rwanda marked the day under the national theme βUmugore ni uwβagaciro β Empowered Women, Stronger Nation.β
Through these engagements, the Rwanda Women Parliamentary Forum reaffirmed the important role women play in building a more inclusive and prosperous Rwanda.
