Home How The Parliament Works
Law-making Process
A draft law is introduced. It is first examined by the relevant committee, which studies the proposal and may consult stakeholders. The bill is then debated and voted on in plenary. If approved, it moves to the other chamber for review and voting before being promulgated into law.
Oversight of Government
Parliament ensures accountability by overseeing the Executive’s actions. Members question ministers, analyze government programs and budgets, and conduct inquiries through committees. This oversight role helps ensure public policies are implemented effectively and transparently.
Representation & Participation
Members of Parliament represent the population and specific groups such as women, youth, and persons with disabilities. Through consultations, hearings, and outreach activities, citizens and stakeholders can provide input into laws and national policies.
Committees & Plenary Sessions
Much of Parliament’s detailed work happens in committees, where bills and issues are examined closely. Their findings are presented to plenary sessions, where all members debate and make final decisions. This system allows for both in-depth analysis and collective decision-making.
